NEOLA meets on the third Thursday of every month to review new and old business. We currently have four committees:

  • Bovine (cattle)
  • Sheep/Goats
  • Horticulture/Bees
  • Poultry

Want to learn about vegetable gardening or learning the importance bees are to gardening? Maybe you want to learn how to care for bees and harvest honey?  How about dairy cattle or goats for cheese making? Join a Committee today.

Private and public grants, fund raising events, donations and membership dues fund NEOLA and the education for its members. Our goal is to build a teaching farm were we can break down the barriers of entry into the agricultural industry. Barriers of entry can be government regulations, equipment and land costs, labor and fuel; anything that creates challenges to get into the business.

“The average age of the American farmer and rancher is 51.5 years. Nearly 30 percent of America’s farmers and ranchers are 65 years old or older. For the heirs of this growing older generation of farmers, the increase could be too little, too late.”
~Farm Bureau

Example: Say you have a small acreage and have a dairy cow. Because of our strict government regulation, you CANNOT sell your cheese to your neighbor unless you have a commercial facility and proper licensing. Our members will be able to bring their raw materials to our commercial facility and they will be able to process and package their goods, giving them the ability to legally sell their products, goods and services to the neighbor and provide income for their family.
